For 27 years, the West U Rotary Club has hosted a golf event to give back to the community and help fuel the mission of its beneficiary association. This year, the tournament proceeds will support Second Servings of Houston!

Houston Food Finder's The Perfect 10 Gala features 10 of the city's best chefs teamed with 10 sommeliers and bartenders.

Hosted by Brennan’s of Houston on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the Mardi Gras-themed event starts with a VIP- and sponsor-only cocktail hour with small bites at 5:30 p.m., then proceeds to a seated dinner with six courses starting at 7 p.m. Cocktail hour chefs are serving small bites, and dinner chefs will each serve one course.

The event includes a silent auction benefiting Second Servings of Houston and our mission to fight hunger and end food waste, which feeds over 175,000 Houstonians in need annually!

The Houston Chapter of Hadassah will honor our Founder and President, Barbara Bronstein, at its 2023 "Women Who Do" luncheon – for her exemplary leadership in the fight against hunger and food waste in Houston!

The luncheon will feature a "Food Rescue Challenge" with three Executive Chefs: Ruffy Sulaiman of Hilton Americas-Houston, Sean Moore of Hess Corporation, and Andres Albarran of Houston Catering Concepts. Their challenge is to create a four-course menu from ingredients they selected from a food rescue at Trader Joe's and then replicate it for the Hadassah luncheon! The entire process will be captured on film and shown at the luncheon.

We are pleased to share that Second Servings of Houston has been selected as the charity beneficiary of the 15th International Risotto Festival! This luxury event will take place on Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Houston Design Center and has raised up to $50,000 for previous beneficiaries. The festival is a gourmet strolling event that includes an afternoon of delicious Italian foods prepared by Houston’s top chefs along with fantastic wines, Italian music and entertainment, a charity auction and raffle, activities for kids and designer showroom tours. On Thursday, Nov. 19, from 10a.m.-NOON, Houston Rockets and Second Servings will distribute chef-prepared, family-sized dinner boxes, along with seasonal produce from Brothers Produce, Ashcraft Bakery dinner rolls, Frito-Lay chips, Southern Ice Cream cones, hand sanitizer, KN95 masks and other Thanksgiving items at the LAZ Parking Lot across from Toyota Center.

The drive-thru food distribution is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. However, guests MUST be in a vehicle.

On Thursday, July 16, Second Servings will be distributing “Dinner’s On Us” meals at Bastian Elementary between 9-11 a.m.

Second Servings has joined Southeast Coalition of Civic Clubs to distribute frozen, chef-prepared "Dinner's On Us" family-sized meals and rescued Girl Scout Cookies to the South Houston community. This will be a contact-free, drive-thru distribution, and all are welcome.

Houston’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry is the city’s premier culinary benefit. This one of a kind event features chefs and mixologists from over 40 of Houston’s best restaurants and bars. Enjoy bite-size fare, craft cocktails, and delectable desserts while mingling with city’s top tastemakers, all of whom come together to donate their time, talent and passion to end childhood hunger in America.

The 9th Annual Houston Kosher Chili Cook-off is now the largest kosher food event in Houston. This year, guests can expect more cooking teams, more food, more money raised for local charities and even more fun! Tickets cost $14, and attendees are invited to sample chili, mingle, enjoy children’s activities, listen to music and the event will conclude with the selection of the winning chili by celebrity judges.

Say hello to us at the Heights Mercantile Farmer’s Market! Second Servings will be at the event with Houston Cooks cookbook author, Francine Spiering, to speak with guests about food rescue and learn food waste prevention tips.

The farmers market is typically held the last Sunday of every month, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., showcasing health-conscious vendors promoting wellness in its finest, freshest forms.

Back for its 7th year, Gumbo Smackdown, presented by Sugar Land Town Square, is an outdoor event filled with endless drinks, live music, yard games, and LOTS of gumbo. Guest have the opportunity to vote for their favorite gumbo and stick around to see who takes home the coveted People’s and Judges’ Choice trophies at the end of the day.
