The food we rescue helps nourish abused women and children, at-risk youth, veterans, adults in recovery, low-income single adults and families, disabled homeless seniors, the LGBTQ community and many others in the Houston community.

Julia C. Hester House

Julia C. Hester House is a long-standing community center in the Fifth Ward area, serving over 1,500 residents annually. They provide support and services that empower, build and sustain the Fifth Ward community, offering an array of support mechanisms that focus on youth development, senior services, social services and workforce development. Casa de Esparanza

Casa de Esperanza de los Ninos strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities.

Angela House

Angela House successfully transitions women into society after incarceration. They provide trauma-informed rehabilitative services, individual and group therapy, referrals for medical and mental health care, dental and vision care, job readiness training, twelve step-recovery groups, as well as emotional and spiritual support in a safe, homelike atmosphere. Project Row Houses

Project Row Houses is a community platform that enriches lives through art with an emphasis on cultural identity and its impact on the urban landscape. It encompasses five city blocks and houses 39 structures that provide the Third Ward residents with a variety of community-enriching initiatives, art programs, and neighborhood development activities. Community food distributions with Second Servings are one of Project Row Houses’ initiatives to fight food insecurity.

Combined Arms

Combined Arms brings together veteran-focused nonprofits and agencies and communities across the nation committed to serving those who served, providing 1,200+ resources that empower veterans to lead the successful civilian lives. Combined Arms envisions a nation where every veteran & military family can easily access the resources needed to thrive in their communities.

 

Bethel Heavenly Hands

Bethel's Heavenly Hands was birthed to assist individuals with the basic needs of life, in an effort to create stability upon which to grow. Halo House

Halo House’s mission is to help save the lives of cancer patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma by offering them access to clean, temporary, and affordable housing so that they can pursue treatment at the Texas Medical Center (TMC).
